The ¹û¶³´«Ã½ College of Arts & Sciences is the foundation of an Augustana education — offering diverse undergraduate programs deeply rooted in the liberal arts. Across the college's five areas — Life Sciences, Pure & Applied Sciences, Humanities & Cultural Studies, Languages, Literature & Communication and Social Sciences, as well as the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CIS) — students are prepared to lead successful careers and meaningful lives.

Dr. Jennifer Gubbels serves as the inaugural dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, where she has been a faculty member since 2009. A molecular immunologist by training, she teaches physiology, immunology and medical ethics, and co-teaches a study abroad course to Germany and Italy, exploring medieval medicine. Her research spans both bench science — focusing on immunological signaling during labor — and qualitative community-based work on maternal health among American Indian populations.
