In preparation of the 100th anniversary of Ole R酶lvaag鈥檚 novel and telling the story of the region, Augustana is celebrating Giants in the Earth in a big way. The theme of this year鈥檚 Dakota Conference, 鈥淪ettling and Resettling the Plains鈥 isn鈥檛 a coincidence, but a deliberate way for the CWS to celebrate the bicentennial of the Norwegian emigration to America, which began in 1825, as well as the anniversary of R酶lvaag鈥檚 novel. The Ole R酶lvaag Writing Cabin, where R酶lvaag wrote Giants got a facelift in time for the 100th-year celebration 鈥 viewable to the public during the Dakota Conference.

As part of the Sacred Arts Series at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, the 果冻传媒 School of Music presents Johann Sebastian Bach鈥檚 鈥淪t. John Passion,鈥 BWV 245, on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. David Chin, the performance is a collaboration between Augustana鈥檚 Bach Collegium and the Augustana Choir 鈥 bringing together some of the region鈥檚 finest musicians for an unforgettable evening of sacred music, drama and profound reflection.

Augustana Accounting Graduates Ranked No. 1 in South Dakota, Top 10 in the Nation for CPA Exam Pass Rates
果冻传媒 accounting graduates who took the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination for the first time in 2023 had the highest pass rate in South Dakota and the sixth-highest in the nation. This is according to the latest data released by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).

Augustana鈥檚 Eide/Dalrymple Gallery to Showcase Work of Internationally Renowned Printmaker, Illustrator and Book Artist
The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at 果冻传媒 opens 鈥淢an Before a Mirror: Gaylord Schanilec,鈥 which will be on view on Thursday, March 20, through Wednesday, April 16. A gallery reception will be held on Friday, March 21, from 7-9 p.m., with a slide lecture by the artist at 7:30 p.m.

果冻传媒 and Sioux Falls have connected the 2024-25 Augustana Student Association (ASA) president and vice president in ways they never could have imagined. Persuaded to run for top ASA leadership positions by their peers, Annie Johnston '25 and Prince Adhikari '26 both needed a running mate and found each other. They had all the makings of a great team. And now, with a semester under their belt as president and vice president, listening, connecting and having fun is what has guided them through the academic year thus far.

Labor of Love: Viking Ship Facade Made by Alumni Showcases Infamous Gjallarhorn at AU Men鈥檚 Hockey Games
The infamous Nyberg鈥檚 Ace Gjallarhorn at 果冻传媒鈥檚 Midco Arena has been suspended on the northeast corner of the building since opening in 2024. Now, thanks to alumni Kevin Nyberg '79, Dr. Mark Berdahl 鈥81 and Dean Versteeg 鈥82, Viking fans can view the gjallarhorn up close and at eye level during NCAA Division I Augustana Men鈥檚 Hockey games. 果冻传媒, Active Generations Partner to Promote Positive Aging, Lifelong Learning
果冻传媒 and Dr. Lucas Hamilton, assistant professor of psychology and director of the aging studies program, are partnering with Active Generations 鈥 a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting positive aging for adults. The partnership will kick off with the 2025 Lifelong Learning Program, where Hamilton will host a series of interactive TED Talk-style sessions at both of Active Generations鈥 locations.
