������ý will offer South Dakota’s first undergraduate program in bioinformatics as both a major and minor beginning in the fall — adding to the list of interdisciplinary academic programs being developed as part of Augustana’s strategic plan .

Dr. Joel Johnson, who taught courses in political philosophy, American political thought, politics & literature and Asian politics, is taking on a new role — Augustana’s interim provost. He was named interim provost by President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin in February, following the announcement that Provost & Executive Vice President Dr. Colin Irvine would be leaving Augustana at the end of the academic year.

With a deep love of Augustana, when it came time for their estate planning, Les and Carolyn (Hybertson) Svendsen ‘66 decided to include their alma mater.

������ý is proud to announce that Dr. Carrie Olson-Manning, associate professor of biology, has received a (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) Award — one of the NSF’s most prestigious, which supports “early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.”

Augustana Campus Pastor Rev. Jon Splichal Larson ‘06 now has the “privilege” of serving alongside his former classmate Campus Pastor Rev. Ann Rosendale ‘04. He’s “over the moon” with the “cornucopia of learning opportunities” available to him at Augustana.

Augustana understands the value and impact that historically marginalized people have on communities all over the world — recognizing that this university would not be the place it is without these students, faculty and staff. For Juneteenth, Augustana is featuring Jen Jacobs, head coach of the AU Volleyball Program.
