������ý is elated to announce it has received a historic $13.8 million gift to help support students who are active and engaged members of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregations throughout the Midwest. Thanks to the generous gift from Rosemarie and Dean Buntrock, the university has established the .

Augustana understands the value and impact that historically marginalized people have on communities all over the world — recognizing that this university would not be the place it is without these students, faculty and staff. For Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month — which is celebrated from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 — Augustana is featuring Osvaldo “Ozi/Ozzie/Ozzy” Magana-Juarez ‘25.

This spring, the university established the Augustana Honorary Alumni Society, inducting 23 individuals into its inaugural class during Viking Days. The honorary alumni society was established to recognize individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to Augustana’s mission, along with its core values of Christian, liberal arts, excellence, community and service. Through sustained commitment to the university, honorary alumni have demonstrated the gold standard of engagement.

The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at ������ý opens “Rachel Cox: Exercises for Control: Part I (an end and a beginning),” which will be on view from Friday, Oct. 6, through Wednesday, Nov. 8. A gallery reception will take place on Friday, Oct. 13, from 5-7 p.m., with an artist talk at 6 p.m. Rachel Cox has created a body of work that examines the personal and cultural stigmas associated with female infertility and assisted reproductive technologies (ART).

Supported by Rosemarie and Dean Buntrock and in partnership with the Center for Western Studies (CWS), ������ý is excited to announce free tickets for the Critical Inquiry & Citizenship Colloquium with Dr. Michael Sandel. The world-renowned philosopher and author will give a keynote presentation to the AU community at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Elmen Center to kick off the 2-day colloquium, with a book signing following the event.

������ý students JayVian Farr ‘24 and Sam Skarstad ‘24 were crowned the 2023 Viking Days Royals at coronation on Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the Elmen Center. The coronation took place in front of a crowd of students, faculty and staff following the Viking Feast on the third day of AU's homecoming.
