Infant & Preschool Program

 

6 Mo. - 3 Years Old

  • To use toys and games to create a safe and fun learning environment for infants and parents
  • To teach parents how to interact with their infant in the water safely
  • To provide guidelines for parents to follow with their infant in the water

Prerequisites: No skill prerequisites

PARENT/TOT

2-3 Years Old

  • To acclimate the toddler to the water using games and toys
  • To find comfort in & around the pool
  • To provide experience in group swimming situations

Prerequisite: No skill prerequisites

Toddler

3-5 Years Old

  • To familiarize children with the aquatic environment and help them acquire rudimentary basic skills
  • To help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around water
  • Swimmers will be required to submerge fully by the end of this level

Prerequisite: No skill prerequisites

Preschool 1

3-5 Years Old

  • To build on and improve skills learned in Preschool 1
  • Increase knowledge of water safety topics introduced in Preschool 1

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Preschool 1 exit skills assessment; must be able to submerge fully and comfortably

Preschool 2

4-6 Years Old

  • Increase proficiency and build on the basic aquatic skills learned in Preschool 1 and 2
  • Reinforce water safety concepts and skills introduced in earlier levels and introduce additional water safety topics

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Preschool 2 exit skills assessment

PRESCHOOL 3

Levels 1-6

Introduction to Water Skills

  • Orient participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills
  • Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Preschool 3 exit skills assessment. Must be able to float on front and back independently. Participants usually start at about six years of age.

LEVEL 1

Fundamental Aquatic Skills

  • Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills, and concepts learned in Level 1

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Level 1 exit skills assessment

LEVEL 2

Stroke Development

  • Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Level 2 exit skills assessment. Must be comfortable swimming in a water depth of five feet.

LEVEL 3

Stroke Improvement

  • Improve participants proficiency in performing the swimming strokes that Level 3 introduced

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Level 3 exit skills assessment

LEVEL 4

Stroke Refinement

  • Help participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes (i.e. front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke)

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Level 4 exit skills assessment

Level 5

Swimming & Skill Proficiency

Fitness Swimmer 

  • Refine strokes, so participants swim them with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances

Personal Safety

  • Refine strokes, so participants swim them with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances
  • Teach participants how to prevent aquatic emergencies in various aquatic environments and to introduce and practice self-rescue techniques

Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of the Level 5 exit skills assessment

LEVEL 6

Private Lessons

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Learn to Swim Private lessons are arranged individually based on your schedule and the schedules of our instructors. Private lessons are open to all ages.

Cost (per 30-minute lesson)

  • One Child — $30
  • Two Children — $35
  • Three Children — $40
